A User’s Guide to Mythical’s Isochronic Tone-Bath
Isochronic tones are part of the aural landscape of each of the five tracks on “Mythical Human Vessel.” "Mythical," Track 6, is another chance to listen to the album again—but this time while stripping away all other aural elements to highlight the Isochronic tones from tracks 1 to 5 as a singular tone-bath experience.
The purpose of an Isochronic tone-bath is healing. These sound vibrations can be used to produce bio-chemical reactions in the body. Think of a tone-bath as an experiment in self-hypnosis and brain-entrainment.
PREPARING FOR YOUR ISOCHRONIC TONE-BATH
1) Headphones are recommended but not required.
2) Listen to the tones as a subtle background sound while going about your everyday life. The tones can be used to address specific needs such as:
· Increase serotonin
· Alleviate depression
· Reduce stress
· Improve focus
· Sleep more restfully
They are effective while working, traveling, writing, reading, studying and preparing for sleep.
3) Use the 20-minute session to activate a desired intention, such as clear and concise communication, lucid visualization, and cultivation of specific states of mind for meditation.
Here are five suggested states of mind that the tones can help activate. Pick one and work with it as a self-guided 20-minute meditation:
· LETTING GO: RELEASING THE PAST
· COURAGE: FACING FEAR
· ACCEPTANCE: EMBRACING THE SHADOW
· CREATIVITY: EXPLORATION
· OPEN HEART: COMPASSION
HOW TO EXPERIENCE YOUR TONE BATH
There is no “right way” to take an Isochronic tone bath—but here are three approaches to experiment with:
1) Active meditation
Sit with a straight spine, shoulders relaxed. Keep your knees below your waist (if possible) to alleviate pressure on the spinal discs. Breathe deeply and count your breaths on the inhale or exhale up to 10 and back down to 1.
2) Rest and relaxation
Lie down and rest comfortably as you breathe deeply.
3) “Tune In” Anytime
Go about your everyday life and let it be background sound. Isochronic tones can be particularly effective while walking, scootering, bicycling, traveling by train, plane or cars, working, writing, reading, studying, preparing for sleep, seeking a boost of energy, or simply taking them as an opportunity for contemplation.
Generally the tones work for short-term benefit, so use them as often as you need. The effects can last for hours afterward so experiment, and find what works for you.
HOW AND WHY ISOCHRONIC TONES WORK
The tones on ‘Mythical’ are full frequency, meaning that they cover the entire auditory spectrum and will stimulate and activate precise regions in your brain depending on what frequency you're personally resonating with and your intention behind this resonance. Your intention sets a frequency, and the Isochronic tones scan the brain to help make that frequency resonate.
Below are the range of frequencies and their associated states:
DELTA <4 Hz
Pain relief, Dreamless Sleep, Loss of Bodily Awareness, Subconscious Access
THETA 4-7Hz
Inner Peace, REM Sleep, Deep Meditation, Addiction Help, Healing

One of the most spectacular albums I've heard since Lateralus. Amazing that this came as the output of a person grieving the loss of people whom they built lives and careers together with. The pain yet exuberance of this music is so enlivening, full of need for empathy and sympathy yet also hope and joy in carrying on to be an awakened person and express the highest good. Advosary

It's rare that a band comes back after over a decade, and manages to live up to the legendary reputation they left behind. Not only did Cynic live up to their legacy, but Traced In Air might have actually surpassed Focus in some respects. honeycombguy
